BOOK DESCRIPTION

Pudor’s, or Scham’s Naked People (Nackende Menschen) was probably the first book on nakedness and nudism to be published.

Written in Germany during the 1890s, and published by Pudor’s own imprint, it is now  a forgotten classic which predates even Richard Ungewitter’s Die Nackheit. The English translation by Kenneth Romanes was published by the Vegetarian Publishing Office in 1894, and has seemingly been lost since then. It is this translation that is being offered by Reason Books as part of its programme for making available texts relevant to studies of nudism, nakedness and natural living.

Naked People itself is aphoristic and poetic, but its pleading for a naked and open lifestyle is both continual and undeniable. Its renewed availability will place it as an immediate collector’s  item, good for any serious library, whether specializing in nudism or not. The new edition is completed by an informative and long introduction by Dr. Cec Cinder of Beachfront USA, an authority on Pudor and the editor of Free Beach News.
